First playable version available!


Hi!

I've been working on this for some time now and the first playable version can now be tested here! The plan is to make this a MOBA-like game but as a 3D space-shooter instead of a top-down hero-control type game. 

The drones that automatically spawn from the motherships move in lines that act like the lanes in a traditional MOBA. The goal of each team is to destroy the other team's mothership. Only drones deal significant damage to motherships so you will need to "push the lanes" forward.

Drones are also involved in the spawn mechanic. I want this to be a fast paced game where you can get back into the action quickly. So when you spawn you take over a drone and morph into the selected fighter ship.

In the current playable version the core game play of controlling your ship and shooting stuff is the focus. You currently spawn at a random drone to streamline the testing process for now. I'm not sure yet how to implement the "drone selection" properly, as this is a 3D space game where standard 2D maps are not very useful :)

This is the first time I put sound effects into a game and it is a real challenge. I'm happy with the weapon sound effects for now, but the same cannot be set for the ship engine sounds. I feel like they should in fact be less noticeable (like the way they are right now) as there are already a lot of sounds from weapons and explosions around you.

Right now there is no music in the game but this will change, don't you worry. I draw a lot of inspiration from the soundtrack of Doom and Doom Eternal, but I need to get better with my guitar first ;)
